Fascinating and frequently humorous glimpse into another era,

Col. Fite's vivid memoir reveals complexities of antebellum society and his unique experiences during the war through a series of colorful vignettes.. Many thanks to the editor for bringing his ancestor's recollections to press. I had read an older fragment of the manuscript in an archive and was thrilled to find this complete copy available. I highly recommend this volume to anyone with an interest in the history of our country at that time or who enjoys a good storyteller.
