Not Just For Dummies!

I've been taking photographs for 45 years, but have always thought I could learn more about the craft, so I've amassed quite a library on the subject of photography. Julie Adair King's 'Canon EOS 70D for Dummies' is the latest addition as a guide to getting the most out of my newest DSLR. A good portion of the books addresses basic photography concepts (something I like to review on almost a weekly basis), but the author does a fine job of relating each of these concepts to the 70D. Like all of the other Dummies, and Idiots publications this book has hints, tips, and cautions in the margins which sometimes take the reader of the immediate track. Also, like many books the narrative about a particular photo illustration (mostly about menu options) is not always found on the same page as the illustration. However, that's a very minor complaint. King obviously knows her DSLRs, and does a very good job of walking the 70D owner through the camera's capabilities, and provides enough experienced based information to make the book useful not only to the novice, but to the enthusiast as well.

EBook is a Good Guide

This follows the path of King's earlier guides to Canon cameras. Her presentation is very accessible yet detailed at the same time. I cannot speak for the printing, but the EBook is an thorough introduction to the many new features of thsi camera.
