Outdated, Incomplete and Overrated.

I'm a Harvard grad, SAT perfect scorer and full-time private tutor since 2002. I also used to teach and tutor for the Princeton Review, so I am intimately familiar with PR's test-prep books, which--sadly--have not been updated much since the late 1990s. This book gets my "it's OK" recommendation because there are plenty of higher-quality choices out there for SAT prep material.
In my opinion, Kaplan and Princeton Review are the Burger King and McDonald's of the test-prep world: you might think that their books fill you full of knowledge, but they are mostly empty calories. I can recommend this book to a low or average-scoring SAT student who is just getting familiar with the SAT, but for high scorers, this book is insufficient, because it does not not cover all facets of the new SAT, instead focusing mostly on basic strategies, tips and tricks that appeal to the average student. Also, don't waste your time on the 6 imitation SAT practice tests in this book if you haven't already taken the 7 free, real SATs that you can currently download as PDFs from the College Board website, or from Khan Academy, or buy here The Official SAT Study Guide, 2016 Edition. There's simply no substitute for the nuances of real SAT tests and questions, which (especially in the verbal sections) can be almost impossible to imitate.
If you're looking for alternate choices, then Ivy Global has an all-in-one guide to the SAT that I prefer to this book: Ivy Global's New SAT Guide, 2nd Edition. I would also recommend that you check out the College Panda, Critical Reader and PWN the SAT series of SAT preparation guides for a more rigorous and less gimmicky approach to the New SAT.
