Good range of level

I've used these probes in my 9th grade Earth Science class and love them. There are many that lean more towards elementary level and some that would be too basic for my students, but others that are perfect for my students. With my students I still get questions about what happens to the stars during the day, what shooting stars really are, how the Earth, Moon, and Sun move, whether the Sun is a star... These may seem like basic questions, but there are students out there who don't really know. My point is, don't just disregard this book because some of the questions seem basic, there are students who get held up by some topics that seem simple. (And there are also more difficult probes dealing with topics such as what Universe Expansion really means, so not everything is basic.)

Elementary

These probes are very elementary in nature. Also mostly dealing with our own solar system and not much outside of it or regarding stars as a whole. This would be great for an elementary school science classroom. I've used the other books in this series with great success in my 9th grade classes so I was disappointed not be able to use anything out of this.

Not very helpful

I have been teaching science for 21 years and took over the upper level astronomy program at the High School. Thought this book would help, but a BIG disappointment. It is troubling that there is no good book to help with High School astronomy and physics. Try something else if you need Astronmy ideas.
