Dictionary of Finance and Investment Terms

I'm not a finance person but it seems that everywhere I turn whether watching the news or watching the markets, I get bombarded by terms and phrases I don't really understand. The Dictionary of Finance and Investment Terms helps me grasp the concepts being described by pundits and analysts. The cover says there are over 5000 terms. Other reviewers say there are more information online which is no doubt true, but for what I need it is all pretty much right here. To me, it is easier to flip through a book to a specific page than it is to do a search, review my options, then scroll through adds and fluff to find what I'm looking for.
The book says it is in its eight edition so that tells me it has been around for a long time and has been a useful resource for all of that timespan. The language is simple to understand. THere are no political spins or economic theories being presented. It is what it says it is, a dictionary of terms relating to finance and investing. The book won't make you rich or get you out of debt, but it will describe what type of wealth you have or the terms for your debt.
I purchased this book to help me understand terms and concepts and it appears that this book will serve that purpose well. If you are looking for a similar resource, then I strongly recommend this book.

A useful tool in your belt

I have worked in debt and equity finance for over 17 years and can say this is a useful tool to have in your belt. While it isn't completely comprehensive, there is a solid foundation of terms relating to real estate, stocks, law, and other major areas upon which to build. Just as no tool in my garage handles every job, this book lacks some terms that could have been included. However, for the size, cost, and utility of this little book, it provides a great desktop reference to have upon your shelf or desk to utilize at a moment's notice. Of course there's a lot of information on the web. However, since Barron's is one of the most respected names in finance, I know the information in the book is both accurate and presented from the perspective of a true professional. This is the view I take in my profession and for my life.
